Democracy: 1, Umno: 0

I salute the brave men and women in yellow who marched in solidarity to demand reforms in the election process.

What is so wrong about elections that are fair and transparent? The unprovoked violence by the police at Masjid Jamek was uncalled for. Sometimes I wonder, why aren't the police on our side? Aren't the police suppose to work for the Rakyat? Doesn't the common policeman know how rotten the State is? These are naive questions, I know. But I can't help wondering anyway. Maybe the common policeman doesn't have enough money to invest in a computer with broadband internet, so all he or she can read is the mainstream media.

As for me, I'm filled with regret that I didn't go. I had planned to go, but was asked not to, in case something bad happened to me. That's all very well, but if we are all afraid, when will we ever effect a change for our country? For now I can only give my support from the sidelines and when the time comes, in my vote.

At least my NaNovel word count hit 20k, so that's one good thing.
